2025-2026 Season Previous Programs
February 2025 - Gel Printing seminar - Julie Welsh
- The art of printing on a gel plate has a long history that has evolved over time. Homemade plates can be formed using gelatin, glycerine, and water. Today gel plates are commercially manufactured in different sizes providing a durable surface to create a variety of unique images and designs. Julie Welsh will give an overview of how to use the plate and share examples of gel prints using different techniques on substrates including paper and fabric.
- Julie Welsh is a Michigan-based, self-taught artist who has been honing her skills creating mixed media artwork since 2009. Her primary focus is on the use of paper ephemera in collage and mail art. In recent years Julie has expanded her body of work to include serious explorations of current issues. She has taught various mixed media classes at Creative 360 and other local venues. Julie shares her woodlot home studio with her companion Mr. Darcy (who has no opinions about her art but insists that she feeds and walks him daily).
January 2026 - Inkle Loom demonstration - Jaunita Martin, Sue Erhardt, Merlin Anderson
- Come join us at either (or both) meetings to see various techniques on the Inkle loom. We will begin with the basic warp faced weaving and an introduction to the free online software for designing patterns. Pick-up patterns will be discussed including lettering. Finally see what can be done using card weaving! If time permits, you may try weaving on one of the warped up looms to see if this is the next craft for you!
December 2025 - Holiday Party at Janet Larner's house
November 2025 - Moravian Star Ornaments workshop - Sandy Keryk
- We will make paper Moravian Stars. Please bring scissors. If you would like to make a ribbon star, bring a spool of 1" wide decorative type ribbon.
October 2025 - Creativity presentation and Wearable Art (painting on fabric) workshop - Allise Nicole Noble
- Allise Noble is an award-winning Michigan artist with a background in fine art and interior design. Though 2D mediums are her first love, she enjoys exploring and combining a wide array of materials. Noble likes to fill her drawings and paintings with little surprises: clay, fabric, metal, buttons - especially objects she's collected that have a memory or story associated with them. In addition to traditional artwork, Noble enjoys crafting art dolls and upcycling clothing and handbags, all one of a kind. For her "day job", she teaches art to creators of all ages and abilities at nonprofits throughout the Great Lakes Bay region, and is especially passionate about working with artists with disabilities and mental health struggles. Noble believes in the healing power of creativity, and is blessed to see every day how creation sparks joy in both the creator and those around them. She believes everyone can be an artist, and it is never too late to begin.
